Been happening for a while, I honestly don't remember since when, finally remembered to report it.
Using VA 2358 and VS 16.4.2 |

Btw, I am still getting unnecessary line breaks in the tooltips. Is this not fixable? It's pretty terrible:

Are you seeing these problem characters only on Unreal Engine built in template types, or all template types? I am assuming that the "TArray" type in your first screen shot is coming from Unreal Engine, but might be wrong here.
Which IDE and version of VA are you using? |

I see this on all template types, TPagedSparseArray is one of my own for example. I'm using VA 2358 and VS 16.4.2. |

It's not specific to Unreal projects either, same issue in PhysX.

I am assuming you are running Windows 10. Based on this, can you please open the start menu and run "Language Settings", which should produce the Windows Language settings dialog. What is your Windows display language set to, and which languages / keyboards are listed under "Preferred languages"?
My first theory is that these tooltip problems are related to the display languages installed.
I am not sure what is happening with the tooltip wrapping, but hopefully getting the wrong characters fixed first will help.
Are you seeing these incorrect characters anywhere else in the IDE? VA Context and Definition fields perhaps? These are normally shown at the top of the editor window, and are where the Alt-M list appears from.
How about VA Outline or VA View?
I am also wondering if this is specific to tooltips, or if it is a wider problem. |

Here:
Note that this is not only affecting me, it is also happening to someone in the UK, he won't have German installed.
Unfortunately the alt+m list and va view does not actually display any template symbols, so I don't know if it would be broken there too.
I can't see these characters anywhere besides the tooltips. |

As you expected, adding the second language makes no difference to the tooltips I am seeing here either.
Can you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me:
VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings
I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem. I am now wondering if the font you have set for tooltips, or some other IDE component, could be a factor. There is obviously a trigger at work here, we just need to try and find it. |

The files contained some paths so I sent them by email to support instead. Auto-reply assigned it case 141703. |

Apologies, I should have said to send the settings files in via email when I requested them. Thank you for these settings, I am now able to reproduce the problem here. I am not sure yet what is triggering it, but I am working on this now.
Is everyone seeing this problem using VS2019? Or is anyone also seeing this in a different IDE? I am getting different behaviour in VS2017 and VS2019, so I just wanted to check I am seeing the same things you are. |

We are all using VS2019 exclusively now, I have never seen the issue on VS2017 or early versions of VS2019 (it started happening some time around 16.3 or 16.4) |

That took a bit longer to pin down precisely than I expected. A change in VS2019 is what caused this to start happening, and I have put in a bug report for this:
case=141726
Thank you for all of the helpful details. |
