I am using VS 2017 15.8.4.
Usually I update directly to the latest version on my machine.

Now I found that VAX has several use folders.
I just cleared the Cache in VAX but this is the remaining structure and the size of the folders. Located in

C:\User\xyz\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\15.0_a404cb42\Extensions\tqw4ad4b.yak\Data

vs15 0
vs15_1 125.737.989
vs15_2 395.313.135
vs15_3 150.566.495

What files can be cleaned up without loss of data?

When you say you cleared the cache, how did you do this, and what did you do?

What I normally do is press the button:

VA Options -> Performance -> Rebuild symbol databases

and restart the IDE. This will remove the existing symbol database, but VA will then rebuild it with a new symbol database as it parses everything.

The first, and empty directory here is just used to store a few "common" files. The _1, _2 and _3 directories are for the first, second and third instances of the IDE you have opened simultaneously.

So if you only normally work with one instance of the IDE open, then deleting the _2 and _3 directories will be fine. But if you often work with more than one instance open, these directories will simply be re-created the next time these instances are opened and VA needs to store its symbol database somewhere.

If you want to tell VA to store these files in a different location, perhaps one with more space, this page explains how to do so:

Thanks. As you can see I have a lot of instances open.
This clarifies all...
