I'm seeing a consistent crash in devenv.exe this morning when I load my solution with VAX enabled (doesn't crash when VAX is disabled).

If you load a new, default solution instead, do you still see this crash?
Have you been running VA 2217 for a couple of days now, or have you only just installed it? I am wondering if there have been any obvious changes that might help explain this sudden crash. |

I've been using 2217 for a few days. I immediately saw a crash in a small solution I was using but I didn't need it so I moved on. This crash is in our main solution I use everyday so I can't use VAX until this is fixed (man, I can't work without VAX).
I tried clearing the history and caches with no luck.

Can you tell me more about the circumstances of the crash --
it at startup? on solution load? when you open the file?
When you open your solution does it automatically open documents?
Do you open your solution using File | Open | Project/Solution, or double clicking on the .sln file?
Is it always the same file that crashes?
Is there anything unusual about your sln or projects?

| It's on solution load. Yes, some docs are open in the solution. Open via command line (which would be equivalent to dbl-clicking) and selection of the solution file from the MRU list. Not sure if the same file or not that is crashing. Solution is very large (100+ projects, 4+ MLOC). |

Thanks, what happens if you
- close all your documents
- close the solution
- enable Code Inspection
- restart VS and reopen your solution.
When VS has finished loading the solution, can you open a cpp file without crashing?
I'm trying to determine if we're asking VS for information before it's ready.

Can you please go to:
VA Options -> System Info -> Copy Info
and paste the details (from the clipboard) into your reply. This will give us the basic information about your setup.
Are you seeing a crash, or a hang, where the IDE is still open, but no longer responding?
Is there any pattern to the problem you are seeing? Is it on IDE load? Solution load? Sometime later? |

I see it on solution open when at least one file is opened up immediately. When i disable Visual Assist, close all open Tabs and then open the solution again it seems to work fine. |

Hello,
I have the same problem, Visual Studio 2015 is crashing on solution load, mainly when I change branch on my solution, if documents are opened in a branch and are now existing on the another one.
Closing all documents fixed the problem.
Could you send me the lastest build too ?
I could check too if it fixes the problem.
