I'm seeing consistent exception messages from VS2012 with VAX enabled. This message repros 100%, but only the first time I open a C++ file after restarting VS. I'm using VAX 10.7.1936.0, and VS 11.0.60315.01 Update 2.

The message repros with multiple solutions, all containing completely distinct code and projects, in different directories. I tried clearing History, cache and temporary files from the VAX->Options->Performance tab, as well as rebuilding symbol databases. The error message still shows after doing both of those.

If I disable VAX via the extension manager in VS, the error goes away. When I re-enable VAX, the error comes back.

The dialog contains this information:
An exception has been encountered. This may be caused by an extension.

You can get more information by examining the file 'C:\\Users\\<account>\\AppData\\Roaming\\Microsoft\\VisualStudio\\11.0\\ActivityLog.xml'.

The xml file doesn't contain any information that seems immediately useful. I'm going to paste the contents of the file in a reply to the post.

Strange, obviously this is not supposed to happen. As a quick test, can you please go into:

IDE tools menu -> Extensions and Updates...

Then uninstall Visual Assist X. After restarting VS2012 can you please re-download and reinstall VA, you can download the installer from this page:

http://www.wholetomato.com/downloads/default.asp

does this make any difference?

uninstalling and reinstalling did not have any impact, I still get the exception message when I open a c++ file

We have just released a new version, VA 1940, can you please try downloading and installing this version and see if it makes any difference?

If you look at:

IDE Tools menu -> Extensions and Updates...

what extensions are listed on you system? On a full install of VS2012 with VA I have the following extensions listed:

Microsoft Web Developer Tools
NuGet Package Manager
Visual Assist X
Visual Studio Extensions for Windows Library for JavaScript

If you have a different list that might be a factor in this.
