Posted - May 14 2010 : 09:09:40 AM Currently I use old 1715 version instead of the latest one because of the following problem. VA X indicates spelling errors in comments for those words which contain national characters, specifically - Cyrillic. The use of corresponding additional dictionaries does not help.
The problem was not encountered in VA X 1715 and earlier versions. Could you fix it? Thanks.

Posted - Oct 15 2015 : 9:00:09 PM Thank you for the explanation, I have added these sample strings to case=12844
It is useful to have examples in hand to test with when we look at these things. I am glad that variable naming is working correctly. VA does have an option to underlined mistyped symbol names, but that is a separate setting, and hopefully works correctly for you. |

Posted - Oct 15 2015 : 03:20:09 AM Just a confirmation that usage of the dictionaries works. It's just national characters ("graphic" or non-ANSI-code) that seems to upset it. |

Posted - Oct 15 2015 : 03:17:54 AM Hi,
The underline behavior for "understruknaa" is correct, eg. it's misspelled.
After checking I can confirm that it does work in variable naming -- I assumed, sorry.
So it seems that the incorrect behavior is restricted to comments and string literals [in code].
//Vilken  skall vi kpa? // ~ ~~~~
LPCTSTR ptch = _T("Vilken skall vi kpa?"); // ~ ~~~~ Narrow, wide, utf or raw doesn't seems to matter.

Posted - Oct 14 2015 : 10:58:52 PM Since I don't speak Swedish, I don't know what I should see here. With your test string, I am getting 3 words underlined as spelling errors, the three words with characters with marks over them.
I have installed the Swedish dictionary files, and when I change "understrukna" to "understruknaa" it is suddenly underlined. Is this correct? One of the correct spellings that is being offered is "understrukna", which makes sense.
VA spell checking is only applied to strings in your code. Any other underlining in your code should not be due to the spell checker. If you change the colour in the VA options dialog for the underline for spelling errors, maybe to Purple, are you seeing code underlined in Purple? |

Posted - Oct 07 2015 : 09:53:40 AM The problem still stands with build 2076. Albeit only tested with swedish characters. If they are in a word, that word will be underlined.
I do have the latest dictionary from OpenOffice and other [swedish] words are not underlined.
I second the suggestion to split up the spelling control into two; one for the code and one for comments. As VS do support unicode national characters do show up in code.
This is not a mayor issue but as I use the "red block" in the right scrollbar to locate errors quickly and easy, the real errors tends to disappear among my [swedish] comments ...
If you need a test sample in swedish
//Ltt att f till understrukna men verstrukna slipper vi.

Posted - Sep 15 2010 : 11:33:42 AM Thank you Feline.
I was wondering why my Spanish dictionary works in VS2008 and not in VS2010 (VAX 10.6.1830)
Perhaps you need to update the web information on how to add more dictionaries to cover this.

Posted - May 31 2010 : 03:58:37 AM The location of dictionaries had been changed in Visual Studio 2010. You will find them under the user specific data. For windows 7, this means:
C:\\Users\\<username>\\AppData\\Roaming\\VisualAssist\\Dict\ *edited by feline* If you place the custom dictionary into the "named" VA install directory for VS2010 then it will be lost when you upgrade to a new version of VA. This directory is preserved across versions of VA. |

Posted - May 29 2010 : 4:04:35 PM BTW all russian words which start with capital letter (in comments) are underlined (even if their spelling is correct). It does not depend on location of the word within a phrase. First letter in russian word in comment -> this word underlined. |

Posted - May 29 2010 : 3:54:10 PM I suggest to split the option: "Underline spelling errors in comments and strings" to the following two options: - option "Underline spelling errors in strings" (+ select underlining color) - and sub-option: "Underline spelling errors in comments".
