Regardless which color I have set for my matching braces, if I enable the option to display them, they always just show in their default color of black. Since I use a black background, this basically makes them invisible.
This started happening in build 1723. I had used build 1715 and did not encounter this problem. I had completely uninstalled build 1715 and then installed build 1723 and that's when I encountered the issue.
I'm using WinXP Pro SP3 on a Dell laptop with 2G of RAM and .NET 3.5 SP1 with VS2008 and I typically use C#.

We thought this had finally been addressed in build 1722 but that does not appear to be the case. We are working on 1724 which should lick it once and for all. In the meantime, this should take care of it for you:
Exit VS2008 Delete this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\VisualStudio\\9.0\\FontAndColors\\Cache\Restart the IDE

Hi Sean. Thanks for the advice. But I deleted the Cache key, restarted VS2008, enabled the option to highlight matching braces and parentheses in VA, but even though my braces color is set to red it is still displaying them in black (on black). |

Do any "VA X..." items appear in the Display Items list at Tools | Options | Environment | Font and Colors? |

No. It goes from "User Types..." to "VB XML...". |

Can you please try running "devenv.exe /setup"?
Wait for the process to terminate before starting up VS again.
Any change? |
