| I've read the Welcome page but it keeps returning. Uncle! How do I turn that thing off? I've searched the Options and don't see anything. |

You didn't read the release notes properly did you?
There is a new registry setting, but nothing in the options dialog, which is why you aren't able to find a setting for this. Please make sure all instances of Visual Studio have been closed, since VA writes out its current settings on exit, which will overwrite any edits you make while Visual Studio is open.
You are looking for:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Whole Tomato\Visual Assist X\VaNetXX\DisableWelcomePage
If you are using Visual Studio 2026 the key will be "VaNet18" If you are using Visual Studio 2022 the key will be "VaNet17" If you are using Visual Studio 2019 the key will be "VaNet16"
Set the value to 01 to disable the welcome page.
If for some reason you need to create this field, it is a REG_BINARY type, but it should be there already. |

| LOL. I did indeed read the release notes after posting this but, sadly, they say "NEW Registry option to disable the Welcome Page" but don't actually say the useful part and tell me what the registry key actually is. Thanks for the secret key. How would someone actually find this key? Is there a documentation page I haven't been able to find? |

There are more extensive release notes on our blog. The blog post is arguably the actual, proper, release notes. But unless you follow the blog this isn't something you are likely to be aware of. I have mentioned this internally, so it is interesting to see someone actually running into this themselves.

This post tells you the name of the registry key, but doesn't actually tell you exactly where it goes or its type, but since the key is being created for me, it will let you find it.
Could you drop me a quick email at [email protected] about this please? Email reports carry more weight than forum bug reports, so that will be helpful. |
