IDE: VS2005
After updating from an old VAX2283 to the current release the IDE is close to unusable: it has an annoying flicker and the VA navigation bar on top of the editor window is several times hidden and displayed again (as if VAX was switched on and off). The editor content jumps up and down, when this happens.
This makes editing a pain.

Is this a known effect? A VAX-bug for old IDEs?
Is there a workaround?

No, definitely not a known bug.

Which OS are you using?

Do you have any other extensions installed? I am wondering if some form of interaction bug could be at work here.

Are you working on a single monitor or a multi-monitor system? Are you using a high DPI or refresh rate monitor?

If you turn Off:

VA Options -> Coloring and Attributes -> Apply coloring to -> VA Navigation Bar

does this have any effect on the problem?

Several people are reporting a problem where the navigation bar gets resized to be 2 or 3 times its normal height, it is possible you are seeing some version of this. I am still trying to reproduce this problem here.

The 2-3-times-oversizing does not seem to have to to with this.
Coloring is not applioed to navigation bar.
It is one monitor, not high dpi.
OS is win 10.
Extension installed is AnkhSVN. Could have some interaction.

But I noticed now, that I can install the old VAX on VS2005 (with your help) and the new one with VS2019/2022.
So my problem is solved in a pragmatic way.
Thanks.

Are you happy with this solution, using an older version of VA in VS2005?

I am happy to try and solve this problem with you if you are interested.

As a first step can you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me:

VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings

I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem. Please send me the files via email:

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up.
