I have Visual Assist 2248
I just bought the Personal License for Visual Assist, installed it on Visual Studio 2017 Community, but for some reason, while Visual Assist is activated, I cannot type a left Parenthesis "(" That character does not get typed at all. Also, I got the message "Visual Assist cannot edit the active document." the first time I tried to type a left parenthesis. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? What setting could possibly cause this?
Thanks in advance :) |

Do you have:
"Show Miscellaneous files in Solution Explorer" in Tools|Options|Environment|Documents.
turned On or Off? If you have this turned On, can you please try turning this Off and see if this makes any difference?
Is there a padlock on the file tab in the IDE, showing that the file is currently set to read-only?
Are you able to type other characters as normal?
Is this a file specific problem? If you open a different code file, does typing opening bracket work correctly there? |
