Hello,
Just upgraded to VS2017 15.5 and VAX 2238 is consistently crashing when I edit a particular file in my (large) solution:
Unhandled exception at 0x282F94D1 (valibclang.dll) in devenv.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x8801C578. occurred
Since the dll has clang in its name, I assume this is in the code inspection feature. I'll try turning that off as a workaround for now.
After numerous crashes, I was finally offered to debug the problem. I then captured a mini-dump file. Let me know if you want that (and remind me how to upload). I also have a mini-dump with full heap, but that's not-so-mini (~1.5 GB).
Thanks, Paul

It does seem very similar. For now, has disabling Code Inspection stopped the crash from happening?
If the problem continues with the new build of VA please do let us know, and getting a full or mini dump would be helpful, also a code sample or sample file that triggers the problem, should that be possible. |

Yes, disabling CI has stopped the crashes.
Any rough ETA on a release that fixes this?

We are currently working towards a new release, so hopefully a week or two, assuming nothing major comes up in testing. I have learned to be cautious with new builds, things don't always go according to plan |

I'm experiencing random crashes too. Glad to hear new update is on the way. Any info on the date by any chance, Feline?

case=112698 was opened for the Code Inspection crash that started with the 15.5 update. case=112698 is fixed in build 2248. |

Can confirm that CI seems to be fixed in 2248 - thanks.
Just an FYI, your "What's New" page still doesn't show 2248. |
