This is in a UE4 project - crashes are very frequent, and VAX isn't properly recovering the unsaved files I've been working on - it's losing several minutes worth of work (would be good to have a 'save-recovery-as-I-type' setting).

Next time this happens can you please capture a mini dump and send it to us via the form:

http://www.wholetomato.com/support/contact.asp

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up. This will give us some more clues about what is going wrong here.

As a temporary work around, can you please try turning Off:

VA Options -> Code Inspection (beta) -> Enable Code Inspection

and see if this makes any difference?

Ya turning off code inspection seems to have stopped the problem. I have a minidump here, which I submitted to the contact form (Case 109374) - and I also have the full dump, if that would be useful, but it's ~550MB compressed.

I think I was meant to be given access to the beta forum btw, by Jeff? Cheers.

Thank you for the update, this is excellent news :)

Both the mini dump and the full dump will be of interest, if you have the time to upload them. Compressing the files before uploading will obvious speed this up a bit.

For recovering your latest edits after a crash, you can try turning On:

VA Options -> Performance -> Enable Auto Recovery

although the more recent versions of the IDE have their own auto recovery option as well, and you may want to change the save time:

IDE tools menu -> Options -> AutoRecover -> Save AutoRecover information every: X minutes

As for the beta forum, we haven't had a beta section on this forum for some years now, so I am not quite sure what beta access you are talking about. We do sometimes send out test builds for fixes to specific crashes that you are experiencing, I wonder if this is what was being referred to.

Cheers - I've sent a link to the full crash dump there - and sent a PM about the beta stuff.

VA Auto Recovery was on when I lost the few minutes of file data - but I believe the IDE auto recovery was also on - thanks, I've updated the latters save frequency.

You could also check in the VA history directory to see if a version of your active file was saved; see VA Options | Performance | Explore
