Hello,
After installation of VA Build 2210, file 'VANetObjMD.dll' is being identified as virus infected by Symantec Endpoint Protection. This file is quarantined from two locations: 1/ C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0\Extensions\5meqrerc.004 2/ C:\Program Files(x86)\Visual Assist
Some details: Risk: Trojan.Gen.8 Category: Malware Downloaded By: c:\program files (x86)\microsoft visual studio 14.0\common7\ide\vsixinstaller.exe File Size: 158208 Company Name: Whole Tomato Software, Inc. Product version: 10, 9, 2210, 0 Hash: 5889618CB551D3872ADD2EA05758D5CEDC7D6EA02CF7A711C14BAE9D66FC4CC0
It's also worth mentioning that it appears to be not just a single PC related issue, as the same file is also flagged as a virus on a second PC.
Probably a false positive? |

I think this is a false positive, partly because when I ask VirusTotal to scan the VA 2118 version of this dll, I am told the last scan report showed one or two positive results, but a re-scan says the file is clear for all scanners. So this suggests that while there is something about the file that looks odd, it is being found and discounted.
I have emailed Symantec about this, to see if they agree. |
