Hello,
I just installed build 2076 and noticed the option to display the VA context menu using the mouse middle click, which I enabled. I have a Logitech mouse with a wheel. Pressing down on the wheel does not display the menu. I tried setting the ctrl+left click option to display the menu, and that works fine. I am under the impression that pressing the mouse wheel is the same as pressing the middle button on the old school three button mice. Should this be working for me?
My info:

Middle click is working for me in VS2013 with VA 2076. I am using a Microsoft mouse with a couple of extra buttons. In the mouse settings I have mapped the extra buttons to "middle click", since its an ergonomic mouse, and the tilted wheel is fiddly to press.
I have also checked pressing the wheel, and that also brings up the context menu.
Do you know if you have any Logitech software installed for configuring your mouse? This might allow you to see what pressing the wheel is sending, what button press it is set to.
Can you please load Internet Explorer, and then make a new tab (Ctrl-T). If you now middle click on this new tab, what happens? For me, Windows 8.1, IE 11, the tab is closed on middle click.
I am trying to find out if other programs are seeing middle click as normal from your mouse. |

I don't have any Logitech software installed. When I got the mouse, I just plugged it into a USB port and Windows auto-configured it.
Nothing happens when I middle click an IE tab, so it appears the OS isn't receiving any message. It doesn't appear to be a VAX problem.
Thanks, Paul

For what its worth I have also found and tested a Logitech track ball, and clicking on the wheel is triggering a middle click here as well. Sorry this is not working for you. It might be worth doing a Windows Update, to see if there is a driver update that might help. But if not, it sounds like the mouse is not doing middle click.
You can still use the Ctrl+Left-Click and Alt+Left-Click mappings in the VA options dialog though, and map one of these to open the VA context menu. |

I've been using ctrl+left-click since clicking a mouse wheel is finicky anyway, so no big deal overall.
Any chance you guys could allow hotkey assignment for ctrl+ or shift+ rt-click too?
Thanks for your help.

I also bought a Logitech mouse recently and I had a hard time configuring the middle button to act like, well, as the middle button.
First you need to open Logitech option. It was installed for me automatically. You can open it by typing logitech options into the start menu. If it's not yet installed you can get grab a copy here: http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/mx-anywhere2#download
When the program opens, you need to click on the green rectangle as indicated on the screenshot:
You may need to use SetPoint instead though. I'm using Logitech MX Anywhere 2, so I guess the "MX" series uses Logitech options while some other products uses Logitech SetPoint.
Regarding your other question: shift+ rt-click should be included in the next build of Visual Assist. |
