When I have viemu enabled it seems to prevent surround selection from working. With a block highlighted if I press / it replaces the selection with /

With viemu disabled it works fine. I realize this is not necessarily a vax problem but I'm pretty sure this used to work, and viemu hasn't updated in ages.

I've tried all sorts of combinations of order of clean installations of both to see if that would help to no avail. If I assign the 'surroundselection' command to (eg) ctrl-/ it works fine.

Any ideas anyone?

cheers
Rob

Thank you for the update, I am glad you found the problem and easily fixed this.

Next time you are reinstalling, or moving to a different machine, you might want to export your IDE and VA settings first, and then import them when you are ready.

VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings

Thanks - I did know about the reg export.

I think I've just found a problem with the fix - now whenever I use . to repeat the last action it now inserts a . instead of repeating the last action

any ideas on that instead?

Which IDE and version of VA are you using?
Which version of ViEmu are you using?

I don't recognise . not working as a known problem, so this is unexpected. Did this use to work before you reinstalled VA?

Have you changed the IDE or the version of VA or ViEmu during the reinstall? Is it possible this is related to ViEmu settings, or the editing mode you are in for ViEmu?

IDE is vs2010 Ultimate Sp1
VAX is 18.8.2029.0

viemu is ViEmuVS2010-3.0.13

nothing else has changed as far as I can tell. Just reinstalled viemu and the problem remains.

Which OS are you using?

I have installed VA 2029 and ViEmuVS2010-3.0.13, into a clean winXP system with VS2010. So I am using the default settings for both addins.

Starting with ViEmu in NORMAL mode, I press O to enter a new line, then Escape. Now pressing dot repeats the action and enters another new line.

Setting "TrackCaretVisibility" and restarting VS2010 makes no difference. Dot still repeats for me.

I've found the problem. I had Options->Corrections->Convert Dot to ->
checked. Unchecking this fixes it.

I can live without that feature ;)

thanks

Odd, I am testing with Convert dot to -> turned On, and dot is working to repeat the last command just fine for me in my tests. It might depend on the position of the caret in the file, and if VA thinks you are typing the dot after a symbol where this conversion might take place.

I am glad you have found a solution, loosing repeat will be a blow when using Vi mode.
