Hi, I've downloaded the VA_X trial (10.7.1940.0) and installed it with VS not running.
But when I load VS2012, VA is not loaded with it.
I've used the trial in the past, but I can't remember if it ran out of the trial period or I just wiped it due to a complete windows 7 re-install.

I've had it running a while ago before and now I feel like purchasing it, but the trial is not even showing up! So I'm not going to risk wasting money if it's not going to show.

Is the trial preventing it from running at all, or is this bug of some kind? I disabled my Firewall, and 'Allowed Add-ins' in the security menu.

Thanks,
Dave.

Can you please try turning On:

IDE tools menu -> Options -> Extensions and Updates -> Load per user extensions when running as administrator

and restarting VS2012. Does this make any difference?

If not, can you please look in the dialog:

IDE tools menu -> Extensions and Updates...

and see if Visual Assist X is listed as one of your installed extensions. It may be disabled, if so, please Enable it, and restart the IDE.

Thanks for the help.
"Load per user extensions when running as administrator" didn't do anything.
It appeared in "IDE tools menu -> Extensions and Updates" - BUT, to get it to show I had to 'Disable' it, restart, 'Enable' it, restart. That did the trick, so I guess a state change got a bit mixed up somewhere.
Thanks again,
Dave.

I'm glad I found this post. The exact same thing happened to me, but using VS 2013. So the problem still exists for VS 2013 users. First I had to "Load per user extensions when running as administrator" (kind of understandable since VA is installed per user) and with the hint from this post did disable/restart enable/restart. No it works as expected.

Thank you for the update, and apologies for your problems. You should not have had to do the disable / enable step, but its good it helped.

Do you have any idea what might have triggered your problem? Was this a fresh install of VA, or had VA previously been installed and working?
