The option "Advanced|Display|Highlight find results" causes Visual Studio 2008 to become unresponsive, if the document contains too many results:
I have opened a log file in the Visual Studio Source Editor. I like to use the Visual Studio Source Editor, because it is about the only text editor able to work with files that are 3 Million lines long (in this case). The file contains several hundreds of thousands of lines with the text "file_channel".
When I search for "file_channel", which occurs on almost every line, Visual Studio stops resonding. If I disable the "Highlight find results" option, Visual Studio works normally.

Is there any chance I could get a copy of one of these log files for testing purposes? I don't have any test files in this size range on hand. I appreciate this might not be possible, but its worth asking.
If I can, please submit the files via the form:
http://www.wholetomato.com/support/contact.asp
including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up.
For now, pressing Escape should cancel the highlighting, making the IDE respond again. Escape cancels the highlighting for me in a small file, so its just a matter of how unresponsive the IDE has become. |

Thank you for sending in the log file. I was able to reproduce the problem and put in a bug report for this:
