Hello from germany
I have the following problem -
from time to time the suggestion windows do not appear next to the code
I enter. They are at the lower edge of the monitor, only a part of them is visible.
The suggestions are wrong.
I use VS2010 with the intel compiler.
any ideas

Which OS and version of VA are you using?
Do you have more than one monitor on your system?
Are you aware of any pattern to this? Does this happen when triggering a listbox with the keyboard? When typing in certain files? Certain types of listbox?
If you press Escape to close this misplaced listbox, and retype the last few characters to trigger the listbox again, does it now appear in a better position, or does it still appear partly off screen? |

VA is 10.6.1842.0 from 12.03.2011
Windows XP SP3
VS2010 with Intel compiler
4 displays
i cannot recognize any pattern - sometimes I work a couple of
days without any problems, and then it appears very heavy.
It seems as if teh parser has detected some kind of code to make suggestions on.
But it just uses the first character, and doesn't recognize that a member of
a structure is requested.
It then shows me function or makro names??.
I try to make a screenshot on it*s next appearance.

Would you be able to try installing VA 1908, our latest version, and see if this makes any difference?

If so I will get you a trial license key so you can try this for a month, rather than the normal 3 day trial, to see if it makes any difference. |

| I have just emailed a trial key to you. Hopefully this will fix the problem, and if not, it is easier to debug problems with the latest version of VA. |

thanks for that - I installed it and the first thing i noted was, that there were no more listboxes whwn typing a structure name.
I then marked the checkbox -"get content from default intellisense" and everything worked fine.
Turning on the computer this morning, the listboxes heve disappeared again, but the checkbox is still marked??
The file has been parsed correctly, as the systax highlighting is ok.

I am going to assume you are working in C++.
Can you see if you have:
VA Options -> Advanced -> Suggestions -> Include suggestions in listboxes
turned On or Off, and if this is Off please turn it On.
You might also want to try turning On:
IDE tools menu -> Options -> Text Editor -> C/C++ -> Auto list members
Does this make any difference?
If not is this structure name shown in VA's Find Symbol dialog, Alt-Shift-S? |

after a month of experience with the new version, I found it working more
reliable than the older one I used.
The issue with the suggestion boxes does only appear 2 times, and a
restart of the VS clears it.
I am sure that this is a problem of the VS display handling.
All in all I purchased a new renewable version.
