Open a solution/project with VS2010 that has no source files open in the workspace. Now open a source file. VAssist highlighting is disabled/inactive.
Keep the source file open, and close the solution. When you open the solution, which has that file opened in the workspace, highlighting works fine.
Build 10.6.1862, and several before it, appear to dislike opening solutions with no source files open/active. |

Which programming language are you working with? I am not seeing any sign of this problem with a .cpp file under winXP with VA 1862.
How are you opening the file? Are you placing keyboard focus into the file? If you use the arrow keys, does the caret move in the file? If not, can you try placing keyboard focus into the file. Does this make any difference? |

C++. Windows 7 64-bit, VS2010 Ultimate. I'm opening the file using the Solution Explorer. Placing focus on the file will initiate highlighting, but it highlights using VS2010's built-in color scheme. Going into VAssist options, the colors look fine... however, even disabling/enabling syntax highlighting will not fix the problem, neither will closing the file and opening it again. You have to quit the program with a file open, then re-open the project completely. |

I cannot reproduce this problem using VA 1859 and VA 1862. I am using Windows 7 64bit and VS2010. I have opened a cpp file from Solution Explorer both with the mouse and the keyboard, and VA colouring is always applied to the cpp file immediately.
Can you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me:
VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings
I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem.
Also can you try opening the file via the Open File in Workspace dialog (Alt-Shift-O by default), and see if this makes any difference. |
