im using vs2017. my code colors using visual assist (which i luv) haven't changed in many VA versions UNTIL 2217 ... now all my code coloring is different. is this a bug? how can i save my old colors (i went back to 2212) before upgrading to 2217?

Are you just using the default Dark theme in:
IDE tools menu -> Options -> Environment -> General -> Color theme = Dark
or have you modified the colours from the IDE or VA? Using the default colours for VS2017 and VA, with the dark theme, and I am not seeing any change in colours when moving between VA 2212 and VA 2217.
Can you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me:
VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings
I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem.

i'm using VS2017 with all updates ... black background (dark scheme) ... reinstalling VA 2212 made all colors go back to what i had been using.
i'm using C# and C++ ... colors do the same thing.

The VA colours should not change when you upgrade to a new version of VA.
Having gone back to VA 2212, are your colours back to the old colours, the way you are expecting and wanting them to be?
Which IDE and programming language are you working with?
Are you working with a dark background colour in the editor window, or a white background? |
