When you single-click a file from the solution explorer in VS2012, the VAX navigation bar is not shown. When you click in the opened source code, the VAX navigation bar appears and the caret jumps one line up. This leads to a very annoying, unwanted selection of some code. For further details on how to reproduce this behavior, see the attached image.

case=69901 is fixed in build 2089.

This is not that easy to fix, we are running around "behind" the IDE, which limits what we can easily and directly do on some occasions.

Also, while irritating, this is not something that many of our users have commented on, or complained about.

I know it is avoiding, not fixing this, but if you open the file via VA's Open File dialog instead, you don't get this problem. The Open File dialog also supports complex searching, which makes it much easier to locate some files than by using the Solution Explorer.

Hopefully you see some use and value in the new features we are adding, an overview of them is available here:

Honestly, I just don't get it - more than three years later, this bug still exists. Am I the only one who finds it extremely annoying? Is it that hard to fix, or do you just not care?

I have to admit I find it really frustrating to spend hundreds of dollars every year for our 6-user license renewal, and all the feedback I get here is "it is just not a high priority at the moment".

I have put a note onto the case about your interest, thank you for letting me know. This is still on our list of things to fix, it is just not a high priority at the moment. Sometimes, because we have to work around behind the IDE's back, it is tricky to get the IDE to behave just how we would like.

This issue is still outstanding over two years later (Build 2062, also I am on VS2013).

Could I add my vote to promote the priority of this issue.

Thanks.

Unfortunately we did not get to this yet.

Just want to say that two builds later (build 1925) this bug still exists.

I am seeing the same effect here and I have put in an enhancement request:

case=69901

I usually use middle click to give focus to the editor because it doesn't have the "annoying" side effect of moving the caret. So I can "reuse" the caret position
Also, it doesn't select the source, and unlike double click in solution explorer, it keeps the preview tab intact (open).
