This may or may not be the best place to ask, but does anyone know of a way to remove/hide the Intellisense scope and function dropdown lists at the top of an editing window? The VA context dropdown list is sufficient, and usually more accurate.

You can hide it by turning this off:

IDE tools menu -> Options -> Text Editor -> C/C++ -> Navigation bar
