Hello community,

as written in the subject, i have problems with starting VS 2005
after installing VAX. The application starts up and crashes back
to desktop before i can do anything.
When i disable VAX via the registry, VS 2005 starts up without any
problems.
I found no hints in the forum. Has anyone an idea to solve this problem?

Thanks,

Armin

Thank you, for your quick reply!

We will try your suggestion. But it may take a while, because the person
with this problem is for the rest of the week not in the office.

As i know, the problem existed with version 10.4.1544. Then he made an update
to version 10.4.1619.0 (it should be the latest one) and the problem was still
the same. I don't know how the problem started.

Please give us some time to try out your hint. Next week i'll write you the
answer, wether it worked or not.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Do you know which version of VA have you installed?
Have you always had this problem? Or has it only recently started? If it has recently started do you have any idea of what might have triggered it?

Can you try running regedit and setting the string value:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Whole Tomato\\Visual Assist X\\ShowTipOfTheDay = No

This will turn off the tip of the day. Since this shows when you load the IDE it might be a factor.
