Posted - Aug 30 2023 : 10:07:44 AM Just fell into a weird bug thats kinda hard to repro: during debug I loaded a rather large .cs (189kb, 5700 lines) file into VS2022 (17.7.2) by dropping it into VS from the explorer. Right away I clicked onto the navbar to type the name of the method I wanted to find. To my surprise, no text appeared in the VA bar, instead the text was inserted into the source code. I just couldnt get the input to appear in the VA bar. clicked a few times between code and navbar, nothing. All text gone into the code with the VA navbar droplist open. After I stopped debugging, all returned to normal. Tried to repro that a few times, failed me only once, repeating the same steps.
Weird thing.
Ah, and what the heck is that new icon that appears sometimes without reason??? Also, occasionally a tomato now appears there.

Posted - Aug 31 2023 : 09:28:11 AM No problems is good. Although not being able to type into the Alt-M list filter remains deeply strange.
I have replied to your email:

Posted - Aug 31 2023 : 07:09:49 AM No problems, those new icons seem to be related to new features. They dont cause any issue, instead the text shows additional information, although a bit unexpected. |

Posted - Aug 31 2023 : 06:10:27 AM Thank you, I will check the email.
VA 2023.4, the latest release, has a focus on improved C# support, so you should be seeing the fruits of that work:

Not sure how that relates to the icon problems though. |

Posted - Aug 30 2023 : 12:18:12 PM Weird stuff. The list is good, parsed nicely, all members shown. Will try with other files to see if thats something specific.
That specific icon is shown on explicit cursor locations. VA is knowing more than it (usually) should, I will send you an email to explain as I cant show code details here. |

Posted - Aug 30 2023 : 11:44:51 AM Is VA Outline looking correct for this file?
So far, does this seem to be a file specific problem?
I don't recognise the icon, so I am wondering if VA is having problem parsing this single file correctly. That could help to explain why it doesn't know which icon to use, but not why it would use an unrecognised one, or a tomato one either. So wondering if all of this comes from the same source. |
