Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 09:57:00 AM After installing VA_X_Setup2283_1 in VS2017 I was unable to use Alt-drag to select rectangular regions of text. In The Visual Assist Mouse settings I have Alt+Left-click mapped to Goto.
Reverting to version 2283.0 has fixed this issue.

Posted - Jul 30 2018 : 3:46:04 PM Unfortunately, there wasn't a bug. It was a huge misunderstanding. We will restore the previous behavior. case=118011. |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 2:53:52 PM Sorry, the bug system is not open to the public. We record the case number here and update the thread when a build has been released that resolves the case. |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 2:52:55 PM You are not alone. Multiple users are not happy with the fix. At a minimum we will have to let you decide between old vs new behavior. After further consideration, we may decide that the change should simply be rolled back. |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 2:50:14 PM It's a shame there isn't another solution to this. The middle mouse buttons on both my mice are simply too stiff to press frequently. |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 2:50:03 PM That said, we will revisit the change. case=118011 |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 2:48:53 PM OK -- at least your results line up with expectations regarding 2283.0 and 2283.1. You were likely on 2270. 2283.0 was only out a week before we updated it and then enabled the in-product new build notification. |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 2:43:18 PM Hi Sean. I have never experienced any issues with the mouse until I installed 2283.1 yesterday. I always keep up to date with the latest version, and only use VS2017.
I have Alt+Left-Click mapped to Goto (as a handy alternative to Alt-G), and Ctrl-Left-Click mapped to Goto related
Upon experiencing the issue for the first time today (while doing some ASCII art comments) after upgrading, I downloaded and installed VA_X_Setup2283_0.exe, which immediately fixed the issue.
EDIT: Apologies: I've just gone back into Visual Studio to confirm this, but now the bug is present in 2283.0 too. Maybe I was on a previous version... I'll downgrade to an earlier version. |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 2:31:47 PM You didn't notice any trouble with the mouse commands in VA releases earlier than 2283? Sounds like the cure may be worse than the sickness...
I suspect you were on 2270 before updating to 2283.1. In regard to the mouse commands, 2283.0 and 2283.1 should be identical. |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 2:30:05 PM This is a real shame. I only recently discovered the mouse Shortcuts and Alt+Left-Click is really handy. I'll try middle click but that button is a little stiff so may just stay on 2283.0 until I have to upgrade. |

Posted - Jul 28 2018 : 1:31:03 PM Unfortunately this is a known effect. We had to change how we handled alt and ctrl mouse clicks in order to fix a bug with mouse handling, but the side effect is that if you have enabled Alt or Ctrl left mouse capture in the VA options dialog then block select does not work any more.
Have you considered assigning goto to the middle mouse click instead? This will stop the conflict with Alt and left mouse click. |
