I find a solution at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/356543/can-i-automatically-increment-the-file-build-version-when-using-visual-studio but this only works with C# project, not Visual C++ project. I am using Visual C++ 2008. Thanks

feline	Posted - Dec 12 2016 : 07:36:10 AM Jut a thought, but if your build number is defined in one of your project files, you could have a script that finds and updates this number by editing the file for you. Then either run this as part of the build process, or run it manually when you want to update this number.
