Posted - Jun 11 2016 : 6:51:02 PM My support ended May 25th, and I have installed by mistake the latest version, the one from June 2nd. So I downloaded the latest version included in my support (2098), installed it, but when starting VS 2015 community edition on Windows 10, the version from June 2nd is still there, and I was asked for a licence key.
So I completely removed VA from Visual Studio, cleared the registry key, and then reinstalled version 2098. After that, the first time I start VS, everything is OK, but the second time, the version from June is back, and I'm required again to enter a licence key.
So for now, each time I want to start VS and be able to use VA, I need to uninstall it in VS, and install version 2098.
Please help! Thanks.

Posted - Jun 20 2016 : 2:52:19 PM Thanks for reporting your findings.
The setting in the VA Options dialog only controls notification of releases via the WT website -- it does not do auto-update.
It seems that VS2015 Update 2 changed how the extension update mechanism operates. We'll see if we can do anything about it -- at the least, to update the documentation page. |

Posted - Jun 19 2016 : 5:30:37 PM You were right, I had problem with automatic VS2015 extension update. As far as I understand, there 3 options managing automatic updates: - Inside VA options, doesn't seem to work at all - In the extensions list view, you can untick "Automatically update this extension", but once you arrive here, VA has already been updated when VS started. - In Options Environment/Extensions and Updates, uncheck "Automatically update extensions". I was successful with third one.
Actually, here is what I did to be able to still get updates for other extensions - Remove VA in VS2015 - Uncheck extensions automatic update in options - Exit VS, Install VA again, start VS => extensions aren't updated at VS startup - Renable update in options - Uncheck "Automatically update this extension" for VA in extension list if present.

Posted - Jun 11 2016 : 7:28:11 PM It sounds like you're being bitten by VS2015 automatic update. Immediately after you install 2098, check that "Automatically update this extension" is unchecked. See the screenshot half-way thru this page: https://support.wholetomato.com/default.asp?W426
We seem to be getting more problems like this recently -- we thought we had it fixed. Do you have any other extensions installed? Any that keep your extensions up-to-date? |
