I had VAX installed, then installed resharper c++ to try it out. This caused VAX to be disabled completely - either RES turned it off, or it turned itself off.

I just uninstalled resharper c++ (1.1) again, but VAX remains disabled ... even after a reinstallation.

WHat to do?

VA does not change any VA or VS settings when it detects R#, but it does try to prevent displaying its own listboxes when it detects that UI from R# is visible.

Hi

In the past "I heard" that some features of VA were disabled when R# was installed , I never fathomed out which I may add. Is this still the case ? Similarly some VS features are turned off , via options in R#.

Jet Brains new licensing plan may well spin off with a lot of people abandoning R# maybe in favour of VA , any hangovers like this could be unwelcomed.

I will be disabling R# for that reason , I'll keep and eye open for any glitches.

I fixed it like this:

go to extension manager, disabled vax, restart, enable vax, restart. Now it works again.

To reach extension manager:

VS2010:
Tools -> Extension manager...

VS2012-VS2015:
Tools -> Extensions and Updates...

It might be possible that VA got disabled for some reason. If it happened, you should see an "Enable" button next to VA in the extension list. Things like this happen, although rarely.

Strange.

If you are using a version of VS with the extension manager or update dialog, check to see if VA is enabled in it.

Alternatively, try uninstalling VA, restart VS, exit VS and then install VA again.
