Doesn't Smart Selection work with VS6.0? It works with VS2003.
I just installed version 10.9.2059.0 built 2015.02.11. and updated the keyboard as suggested.

Unfortunately Smart Select is not currently available for VC6. VC6 works differently to the newer IDE's, so new features are not always added to VC6.
I have put in a feature request to see what our options are for getting Smart Select to work reliably in VC6:
