I add a new function to my class header file.
I go to the cpp file to invoke the function. VAX will list the function in a drop down list as I type the function name, but when I hit ENTER or TAB or select the name with the mouse VAX does not replace what I've typed with the full name of the function. This does not appear to be happening universally, just when working with newly defined functions.

VAX version 10.7.1925.0

I am glad this is now working for you, I hope it stays working. If this happens again screen shots might help to explain what is happening and why. This is certainly a rather odd problem.

Strange. Now it all seems to be working as designed without any special manipulations on my part. I'll keep an eye out for this behavior and if it happens again I be sure to have more documentation, screen shots and such, to describe the problem.

Thanks for everyone's help.

When you have this problem, is the new function selected in the listbox? Does it just have a dotted line around it in the listbox?

Can you please try rebuild your symbol databases?
VA Options -> Performance -> Rebuild

If it doesn't help, can you please try disabling VS2012 Color Theme Editor and Windows Driver Tool temporarily just to see if it makes any difference?

Source file are on local HDD storage. If I reparse the header file after adding the function then intellisense seems to work as designed. The other extensions I'm using are NuGet, VS2012 Color Theme Editor, MS Web Developer Tools, Windows Driver Tool, Extensions for Windows Library for JavaScript.

Thanks,
Jim

Well, this is odd then.
Where are these source files kept? Is it an "ordinary" HDD/SSD drive, or some kind of virtual or network drive?
Does it help if you select VAssitX -> Tools -> Reparse current file before you type the new symbol name?
Does rebuilding your symbol databases help? VA Options -> Performance -> Rebuild
Are you using any other Visual Studio extensions?

And maybe most importantly (especially with VS2008 or lower) which keyboard mapping scheme are you using?
Tools -> Options... -> Keyboard

VS2012 with latest updates. Yes all those options are enabled.
