Given the following code, the type MYSTRUCT remains unknown (and underlined) to VAX, although PMYSTRUCT and _myStruct are known.

typedef struct _myStruct
{
 // some code here
} MYSTRUCT, *PMYSTRUCT;

grmpf... once more, clearing the DB has solved that problem. How often does one need to clear the DB?

personally i never seem to have to clear the database, not that this helps. it could be related to your famously intricate code if so i hope that as VA gets better at handling it this problem will slowly go away.
