It seems like there isn't any reason this shouldn't be allowed for other file extensions.

For simplicity, we are only offering this in files were VA is active. Otherwise people start asking why is this feature available in other files, while this feature is not.

Is this a problem you often run into? If it is only occasional you can always cut and paste the text into a file where VA is active, sort it, and then cut and paste it back again.

The rationale makes sense. Currently I just paste the lines into notepad++ or something else. It does happen a lot, because even our c++ projects contain cmake, qml, python, etc. files.

These file types help explain why we want to keep to this approach. Once we start being slightly active in other code type files, people will use this as a reason to justify asking for more and more support in these additional languages. We need to focus to be effective.
