I am using utility .NET Mass Downloader (http://www.codeplex.com/NetMassDownloader) to download source files for some assemblies of the .NET framework to allow debugging inside them. I have the folder with Microsoft source files as well as set of .pdb files. The idea is to force your software to use this source code instead of parsing .NET assemblies if it is available. I simply want "Go To" button to navigate to this source code.
Thank you for the interesting trick. Unfortunately this works only if newly created huge project is added to solution you are working with. "GoTo" opens right file until project is in the solution and is not unloaded. That is not really useful in source safe controlled projects.
I'm not completely following this, but the "if Solution is not empty" setting (VA Options | Projects | File Handling) might help here. When that option is checked, under certain circumstances, VA will parse sibling files when you first open a file from a directory that is outside of your solution.
