Hi,
Eclipse has a nice feature where it stores backups of all files saved in the last [configurable=7] days, and allows you to compare the current version of the file with this local history. I've found this very useful when playing around with code which isn't good enough to check in, but where I haven't thought it worth taking a copy before making changes until too late...
Any chance this could be done by VA.X?

my initial reaction is that this is a little outside of VA's area. plus i am wondering how this would work when there are a lot of files involved, or multiple programmers working on the same set of files.
from my own experience i can see the appeal of the idea, but i can also see a series of possible problems with doing it.
thinking about this has reminded me of something. you may want to look into this program, which seems to works on a similar concept, but it is not limited to code files:
