Add a simple folders capability the new snippet editor so that we can arrange our snippets properly in named folders.

Currently we see a straight list of 100s of snippets.
It is tedious to find a snippet whose shortcut you have forgotten.

Have you tried changing the Type to "Search...", this will allow you to quickly search and filter all of your snippets, helping you to find the snippet you want, so long as you have some idea of the text it enters, or the shortcut or description.

Searching is great, but hierarchical folders are still needed.
The snippet manager gui does not scale well without them.

Would you be able to send me a copy of your *.TPL files, which hold you snippets, to I can get a better sense of what you are seeing? The files should be in the directory:

C:\\Users\\%USERNAME%\\AppData\\Roaming\\VisualAssist\\Autotext\
If you can, please submit the files via the form:

http://www.wholetomato.com/support/contact.asp

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up.

Sorry, I cannot. NDA and all.
Just imagine snippet editor with 500+ snippets.

How would folders help?

Problem is that Snippet Editor will still need some extra information to determine, which snippet to put into which folder. If such information once exists, it is no problem to use search.

If I would have such need, I would add some marker into description of related snippets. Such as [date time] or anything else. Then I would search for snippets with this substring in description.

That is a lot of snippets, I am not sure I really want to try and imagine dealing with all of those. If some of your snippets have shortcuts starting with the same letters then this setting may well help you:

Instead of adding folders, have you considered using "tags"? The advantage of this is that you can do this already. If you add tags to the description field, e.g. #if, #comment, #worker, you can then use the search feature to search the descriptions only, and thus pull out just the block of snippets that you want.

I realise this is not as visual or as convenient as folders in the editor, but it is easy to do.
