The core idea is saving all settings in a single file.
It would be nice to have a new tab called "Import/export settings". VASSISTX --> Visual Assist Options --> Import/export settings
To export: 1. click "Export", which opens a new dialog with 3 check boxes and 1 button 2. check the boxes to select what you want to export (registry data, Autotext folder, Dict folder) 3. click "Export", which opens a file save dialog, select your path and click OK, and it saves everything in a single settings file
To import: 1. click "Import", which opens a file open dialog, select your settings file, click OK 2. in the new dialog, check the boxes to select what you want to import (the missing stuff is greyed out already) 3. click "Import" and you're done
The settings file could simply be a ZIP archive with a different extension (maybe .vaxsettings?) |

You can export registry settings already from Visual Assist Options dialog under tab Performance. Autotext folder is always the same: %APPDATA%\\VisualAssist\\Autotext Dict folder is also always the same: %APPDATA%\\VisualAssist\\Dict
So, all you need to move settings from one installation to another is registry script file generated in: Visual Assist Options | Perfromance

You misunderstood my post DusanDusan. I know I can do all that (which should be obvious from the post's content), and I already did multiple times.
The point is, it's currently not very convenient and I'm proposing a way to make it more convenient by having a single-operation single-file import/export system. Hence the topic being "Simplified import/export", not "Import/export".
For instance, with the current registry export system, you can't select where you save your .reg file and the confirmation dialog doesn't have a button/link to open the containing folder. That would be a first step in the right direction. :-) |

A very good point LRBni, I recall this being discussed internally, but unfortunately nothing has happened about it yet. I have put in a feature request for this:
