If I get dreadful code I should use, first I restyle the code until it is readable. But one thing I can't fix with perl - it's the order of the method implementations.

I used to order the implementations of the method according to the declarations. That's because I have scrict rules how a declaration is ordered. (e.g. typedefs, ctor/dtor/copy/assign, public ext. interface, public int. interface, public operators, protected, private, attributes).

So I expect the same order in the implementaton.

An action "Order method according declaraton" would be useful. Or a "Move up", "Move down" action on the implementation.

an interesting thought. i also like to keep my functions well ordered and grouped in the cpp files, so i really like this idea myself.

the problem is "what to move", because if people have comment blocks above the function do you pick those up and move them as well? if so how do you define that a comment block is attached to the function?

are you using VS2003 or VS2005? if so you can use the outlining mode to collapse the functions right down, which makes it a lot easier to re-order them with cut / paste, since they only take up a line or two each.
