I would like to turn off the VA option "Format after Paste" from within a macro, because the formatting is affecting my macro operation.

In a macro, can I get/set the status of this option?

Which Visual Assist build are you using? From History of 1848: "The Visual Assist X user interface is disabled during macro recording and playback." I guess "Format after paste" should be disabled as well.
