If you are using ThreatFire by PC Tools then you may have problems using Visual Assist X in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.
This anti virus tool may cause problems using extensions in VS2010, as discussed here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4687155/cant-get-extensions-to-work-in-vs-2010-professional-should-i-reinstall
One possible solution is to uninstall ThreatFire.
