When I activate "Ask Copilot" from the GitHub Copilot Chat Extension in the C++ text editor, the prompt appears but I can not get the focus to enter text into the chat or press the send button.

When I disable the Visual Assist Extension in "Manage Extensions", Copilot works as expected.

Using "Enable/Disable Visual Assist" from the VAssistX menu does not have the same effect.

It would be great if I could use VA and Copilot at the same time.

Used versions:
Visual Studio Enterprise 2022 (64-bit) 17.8.3
Visual Assist 10.9.2508.0
GitHub Copilot 1.139.0.0
GitHub Copilot Chat 0.1.1986.61475

OK, mystery solved, going back to where I sent the email, somehow I failed to correctly update the to email on the case, so it wasn't sent to you, even though I clearly remember looking up your forum registered email. Apologies for that. At least this isn't evidence that our support system cannot email you, which is a relief.

Nope. Not that I can see. I already checked everywhere.

I *am* getting marketing emails from Whole Tomato, fwiw.

I was referring to your earlier post indicating that you have sent me an email:

At the top of the page, on the right hand side, just under where your profile name is shown, there should be a "Subscribe to Topic" link which you can use to subscribe, making sure you get email notifications about new posts.

We don't email everyone everything by default, which may be where the confusion is coming from.

2024.2 fixes the issue for me as well. Thank you!

Btw, I do not see an email from you, feline. I looked everywhere and double-checked that the address on my profile is correct.

Excellent news, thank you! Not having a Copilot account this wasn't something I could simply test.
Uniwares Posted - Mar 25 2024 : 11:11:09 AM
Confirming that Copilot is working again in the editor window with the 10.0.2515 release of VA. Thank you.

Ah, my mistake, no, that is the new official release. I just didn't realise it had been released is all. That's what I get for commenting without double checking the download page first.

The release notes will follow soon, but there are a couple of significant regressions that needed to be addressed, so getting this build out was important.
Simon Posted - Mar 22 2024 : 06:41:44 AM
I'm confused. Version 10.9.2515 (Build 2024.2) is available on your homepage as General Release. Only the release notes are not yet up to date.
So why is it not an official release?
feline Posted - Mar 22 2024 : 06:26:08 AM
We are aiming for an official release soon, but obviously we need to make sure it is as solid as possible first.
Simon Posted - Mar 22 2024 : 06:16:58 AM
I tried it out. Looks good :-)
The fix seems to be included in Version 10.9.2515.

Is the bug fixed in the latest release?
Build 2024.2
Release date: 2024.03.14

Also eagerly awaiting a fix. Thanks.

Simon we are looking to get a new build out soon with a fix for this issue. In the mean time, I have emailed you about this.
Simon Posted - Mar 13 2024 : 03:34:38 AM
Issue still exists with the latest updates of Visual Studio and GitHub Copilot:
Visual Studio Enterprise 2022 (64-bit) 17.9.3
Visual Assist 10.9.2508.0
GitHub Copilot 1.156.0.0
GitHub Copilot Chat 0.2.586.64171

And I agree with FAN, that GitHub Copilot and Visual Assist are the two most useful extensions in my daily work.
Any update from your development team?
At least a beta version would be great.

FAN, I have just emailed you about this.

FAN Posted - Feb 27 2024 : 07:23:54 AM

Any update for this bug? It's really annoying as Copilot and Visual Assist are the two most useful extensions for me, and Copilot chat is basically useless with VA installed.

feline Posted - Feb 12 2024 : 06:53:38 AM
We are working on a fix for this, and are aiming to have this fixed in the next release of VA.
quagfeng Posted - Feb 07 2024 : 5:33:56 PM
I've the same problem and I'm also wating for a solution! Thanks.
Simon Posted - Feb 02 2024 : 04:46:49 AM
Issue still exists with the latest update of VA:
Visual Studio Enterprise 2022 (64-bit) 17.8.6
Visual Assist 10.9.2511.0
GitHub Copilot 1.155.0.0
GitHub Copilot Chat 0.2.242.43722

It would be great if we would not have to wait for another month until a fix is available.
feline Posted - Feb 01 2024 : 07:11:17 AM
Unfortunately we don't yet have a fix for this, but are hoping to have one soon.

Ah... I didn't know that! Thank you for that information. Someone else confirmed the bug before I finished getting a test case set up, since I don't personally have a Copilot account, so spent a certain amount of time just trying to get something set up before I could test anything.

I will add a note to the case about this, knowing it is a regression may well help.
Uniwares Posted - Jan 26 2024 : 09:55:47 AM
One more thing: this worked with the previous VA version and the previous Copilot version.
feline Posted - Jan 26 2024 : 09:33:24 AM
Thank you, another data point proving our interaction with Copilot is the problem. It seems confirmed, but I do like to be sure
Uniwares Posted - Jan 26 2024 : 08:39:07 AM
Nope, not enabled for other types
feline Posted - Jan 26 2024 : 08:32:02 AM
Do you have VA enabled in the other file types, where the Copilot works correctly? I am assuming you don't, but would like to confirm that assumption, just in case there is some strange file specific effect at work here.
Uniwares Posted - Jan 26 2024 : 06:48:44 AM
Was just about to report this issue. Had already a thread opened on Microsoft. Hope that gets fixed asap.

btw: its not only C++ but also C# editor windows. In other types, like JSON or txt files, it works as expected.
