But I think it could be more helpful in cases when hovering over "else": In my picture the mouse hovers over the "else" belonging to the third "if". It would be great to see some infos about this third "if" in the tooltip (as shown in the picture).

Posted - Nov 07 2014 : 12:06:10 PM One of the problems with the more helpful form is when there isn't just an if before the else:
if (2) ; else if (3) ; else if (4) ; else if (5) ; else ;
When hovering over the else, should the tooltip show: - only the else (current behavior) - the if and the else (skipping the else ifs) - all of the siblings (the if and all the else ifs and the else)
Similar issue with hovering over one of the intermediate else ifs.
We do have an open feature request to consider different behavior of else/else if: case=85197
